BU vs. Maine - Game Day Thread

The High Roller gets to watch the game in person, but I have to settle for watching at Porter's in the District. Thank God for satellite TV and NESN!!

Got any thoughts about the game? Unload em here.

This was my post from basketballboards.net, but ill put it here too...
Gaffney played like the best player on the court tonight, the best. Kid goes for 11 on 4-8 shooting, with 4 boards anad 5 steals! 5!!! but only plays 16 freaking minutes. Are you kidding me?!?! And, oh, by the way, he has 0 fouls. Beyond that, however, Gaffney was the reason that BU finally got in gear in the first half and wound up up by 8 at the half. The kid played fantastic. Not only did he get stuff going on offense, but he played phenomenal D. Gaffney is the only kid on the team that can create his own shot by penetrating (and if you dont agree, go back and watch the duke game, and the michigan game). His instincs on defense are great, and he has a rediculous wingspan that really clogs up passing lanes. The kid wont be a star in the league as long as he can't shoot from downtown, but he is the only guy who can create on BU. Having him on the court takes attention off of the post players, and it free's up Hassan outside, who can't create his own shot. Speaking of outside shooting, right now Gaffney, colbyn, peterkin, gardner have as good a shot at hitting a 3 as BU's guards do... His 180 2 handed dunk was pretty nice too...

Gardner again was great. I can't say much more about him. He's a force in the post. Terrific rebounding. His put back dunk almost got the momentum going back in BU's direction. His fouling out also pretty much doomed BU, but it was unavoidable. I forget who for maine grabbed a rebound, BU had to foul, and he was the only guy close enough to foul.

Speaking of post play. No offense to maine, bust especially with Bofia in foul trouble most of the Game, BU had maine clearly overmatched in the post, the strategy would be kick it in to KG, and give it to Gaffney, which was working in the first half. But unfortunatly, BU's aneimic offense is doing their best impression of northeastern from 03-04. Its bombs away from downtown, no matter how bad BU is shooting from there. BU's guards (especially one in particular), have the green light every time they touch the ball, and right now, they are missing and missing big. Its funny that the post players, BU's strength right now, are the ones kept on a serious leash.

Wynn gives 120% every game. His hustel is outstanding, he's great when he is looking to create shots for others. Great defense, very good rebounder for a guard. But every time he touches the b all on offense around the perimeter, I'm thinking "please god dont shoot it..." and sometimes the worst thing that can happen is he hits a 3, cause then a bunch more will follow...

Macon: Can't hit water if he fell out of a boat right now, today was not a good game... he should not have played 30 minutes...

Geffen played well, didn't shoot well, but the offense moves better with him on the floor...

Coblyn, early fouls. He has a nice tough, but he's somewhat of a foul magnet... in his defense on his final shot he got smacked good on the arm with no call, which definetly made up for the traveling charge on turner.

Peterkin was a non factor. He got 2 quick fouls and was gone... he did get charged with one foul when his shirt got ripped off, and my friend remarked "you know in several states he was just sexually harrassed..." needless to say, it seemed somewhat bs...

Great recap Ginzo - didn't get around to writing my own yet, so thanks for posting.

Still trying to regain my breath from Corey's near buzzer-beater
