Duke squeaks by BU, 64-47

First impression: GREAT start to the season by the Terriers. Yes, we lost by 17. But our defense held the number one team in the country to under 65 points (they will probably average over 80). And we saw some flashes of our younger guys that make me very excited about BU basketball for the next 4 years.

Ibrahim Konate, Brian Macon, Corey Hassan and Ben Coblyn all showed why our new class is so highly regarded. Gardner and Wynn showed some of the leadership we're going to need. Obviously, we need to work on our turnovers and offensive flow, but nothing's gonna be perfect against #1.

First half was pretty exciting. Here at my place, Mary, Bobbie, Mark and I were jumping off the couch every time we hit a shot to keep our lead (well, Mark didn't arrive until halftime, and Bobbie was kind of stuck in the poppazon chair - but Mary and I definitely were jumping). The halftime deficit was kind of a bummer, but we played a great second half and we were more than pleased with the final score.

Bring on Michigan!

Great game by the Terriers! As far as I'm concerned the future is now. What a gutsy performance by a team with 7 kids who have never stepped on an NCAA floor! Real impressed with Hassan, Kanote and Coblyn (all Freshman). Didn't really see much out of Macon to excite me, actually thought Geffen did a better job. Great defensive game by Wynn, not sure he can help us offensively. Thought Gardener played a solid game. Gaffney also looked good. I am real proud of our boys and can't wait for Michigan next Tues.

I watched the game and saw some great things: namely Wynn and KG's defense, Wynn hitting two fade away jumpers and the dude with the tats with some great low post moves. I can't wait for Michigan!

I wanted to comment on my feelings regarding attending the Michigan game next week:

When we used to go BU games we went hard, we screamed, we jabbed, we swore, and we degraded... and I was in heaven. But now as I ponder going to my first game since graduating I ask myself if I can bring the same intensity. Can I come up with quick-witted-quibs directed towards "worst horse mascots", "ugly bitch cheerleaders", and "my dad" aka Northeastern male cheerleader. I thought about this long and hard-because if there is one thing I hold close to my heart it's bringing my all and if I cannot then should I go at all... I then blacked out and had a vision, a vision of turning old white T's into terrier garb, screaming until I am hoarse, and "have fun playing in Toronto." I awoke slightly stunned (wondering if that large-beast man from Ohio Univ. had finally tracked me down)-bleeding from the head the blood staining my old white t-shirt, and I realized I bleed terrier red for life. I will be in attendance against Michigan at the new arena (my first trip) sporting my CHAZ CARR tee pit stains galore, and I WILL BE HEARD by refs, AD's, fans, children, the elderly, and especially by the opposing Wolverines.

Thank god for college basketball.

P.S. "that was an idiot-statement!"

BU looked good. Much respek.

Duke sucks. I loathe them more than any other team. Maybe even more than the Yankees.

COM '02

P.S. Duke sucks.
