Coaches Poll Out; BU picked 2nd

Here's how the coaches of the America East think the conference will finish:

1. Albany (5 first-place votes)
2. BU (3)
3. Maine (1)
4. Binghamton
5. Hartford
6. Vermont
7. Stony Brook
9. UNH

BU lost its top 3 scorers from last year... and the coaches STILL think they can come in second?? Some of the coaches might be on crack if they don't think Albany should be #1. Albany lost nobody and gets some nice returns from injury and good freshmen. I still think (hope?) BU will finish first, but based on how much we lost and how much Binghamton, Albany, and Maine still have, I don't think 4th is an unreasonable prediction. As for the bottom 4 or 5, the coaches might as well have put their names on a mat and played Cow Bingo.

Dennis Wolff had the same reaction to BU's #2 ranking during the media conference call. Wolffie mentioned how it's an honor to be ranked so highly by his peers, and pointed out that no matter how talented his team is, the lack of experience might cause some growing pains.

One thing stands out as a feel-good item: Vermont is ALLLLL the way down at #6. Sorry, but I got a little sick of their national media darling status. Where's big bad Taylor Coppenrath now, huh Catamounts??

Don't be sorry, I can only assume that everone else in the America East hates Vermont as well. Then again, a few years ago, I'm sure most of the fans hated BU also. It's hard to tell, but I bet a lot of people were happy about our last two losses in the first round of the tourney.

Albany? What's up with that?

I'll give you one reason why Albany will not end up as the #1 seed in the AE tourney - no discipline. I don't care how talented you are, if you're not able to focus on a game plan or keep your composure, you're not going to get it done. Good luck to the Great Danes.

You can't argue that Albany has the most talent returning, even though they've never won anything before. The guys we have this year are talented too, but they haven't proven anything either.

Tell ya one thing though: BU definitely has the coaching factor in its favor.

Albany may have the most returning starters but they have never even had a winning record in the AE if I'm not mistaken.

I am a die hard BU fan, but I don't get the UVM bashing from last year. You want to beat them bad, and hate them when you play them, but you have to like them winning a game, its great for everyone in the conference... and as for Taylor, easily the best player the AE has had since Tunji, and he's getting paid a ton to play ball in europe, and the general consensus among NBA scouts is he'll be in the league by next year. The guy was as legit as the AE will have, and no one BU has had in the past 8 years could hold his jock...
